About the Academy
• Founded in 1890 by the Congregation of St. Joseph, Saint Joseph Academy continues its ongoing tradition of excellence in education for young women into our 119th year.
• The Academy is sponsored by the Congregation of St. Joseph and operated by the Congregation and a Board of Directors representing the religious, business, professional, and local communities.
• The Academy was one of the first area high schools dedicated to the education of young women and is currently the only Catholic all-girls’ high school in the city of Cleveland.
• 650 young women are currently enrolled at the Academy.
• Over 25% of Academy students are legacies, with mothers or grandmothers that are alumnae of Saint Therese, Nazareth, or Saint Joseph Academies.
• Our diverse student community reflects a wide variety of geographic, socioeconomic, racial, and religious backgrounds.
• An average of 95% of graduating seniors attend colleges and universities
nationwide.
• The Class of 2009 received over $11.6 million in merit-based college scholarship awards.
• The academic environment provides a 12 to 1 student to faculty ratio with an average of 23 students per class.
• Our students come from over 60 elementary schools within Cuyahoga, Lorain and Summit counties.
• A superior faculty has dedicated itself to educating the young women of Saint Joseph Academy. They average 15 years of experience and 72% hold
advanced degrees.
• Members of our faculty are working in partnership with John Carroll University to earn their Masters in Education.
• 25% of our faculty and staff are graduates of Saint Joseph Academy.
• Over 13,000 graduates, representing Saint Therese, Nazareth, and Saint Joseph Academies, continue to support the ongoing mission of Saint Joseph
Academy through the Alumnae Association.
• Distinguished alumnae include Sisters of St. Joseph, homemakers, a Pulitzer Prize winner, prominent businesswomen, state Supreme Court
Justices, doctors and nurses, lawyers, and mayors.
