Soccer on the Move!
If you frequented the old Westfield Great Northern food court, it will be déjà vu all over again if you happen to visit the SJA cafeteria. On Saturday, November 10, thanks to the hard work of dozens of volunteers and parents, and the generosity of Great Northern mall officials, some 200 tables and 400 chairs were donated and delivered to the school.
The chairs and tables were no longer needed due to the mall opening a new food court earlier this month. In addition to fulfilling needs in the SJA cafeteria, some of the chairs and tables also were placed in the Senior Lounge.
The donation happened due to the efforts of Jim and Paula Thomas Harter (parents of Jackie Harter J'15) and John Thomas, who measured and laid out a schematic for all the new furniture. Volunteers helping set up the tables and chairs included students and parents from the SJA Soccer Team, St. Bernadette’s, the Saint Ignatius Rugby Team, Saint Edward’s and Elyria Catholic high schools. Free delivery trucks were provided by Gameco Inc. and Suburban Landscaping.
Westfield Great Northern officials coordinating the donation included general manger Kurt Reddick and operations manager Jeff Preg.

Athletic Boosters Club
Athletics play an important part in the total educational program here at Saint Joseph Academy. The Athletic Boosters Club promotes athletics in an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy of the school community. One of the elements of our philosophy is to prepare our students to seek a balance through the interplay of mind, body and spirit. In an effort to uphold this philosophy, the Athletic Boosters Club provides support, encouragement and financial assistance to the athletic program in a variety of ways throughout the year including:
- Night at the Races
- Tailgate Party
- Fall Picnic
- Athletic Events
- Athletic Boosters Club Membership
The Boosters Club sponsors The Kristin Eucker Scholarship, valued at $500.00 and given to a student athlete entering her senior year who presents the skills of leadership, Christian awareness, and school spirit. All families of athletes are asked to become Boosters Club Members.
